CPY 2019 on culture exhibition day in Japan

SSEAYP CPY 46 Branding

CPY 46 | Branding | Delivered 2019

Officially on paper I was not part of the design team, however I was made an honorary member and was happy to help with designing the branding for the contingent including the logo and some necessary media materials for the onboard activities.

I was in fact a member of the solidarity group subcommittee, quite literally tasked with making sure that everybody gets along, among other things, something I am proud to say we did perfectly with the willing participations of the whole delegates, all 30 strong.

The logo idea came from our 2019 theme which is Khmer story and literature. “Lakhorn Sbek” is often liken to the window to visualize the flamboyant and gaudy Khmer literature. The design employs Kbach Phni Tes as the centerpiece number 46 and Kbach Phni Voa as the background. The batch number is depicted as floating on water, recognizing the voyage we were about to take on the ocean. Number 4 and 6 was shaped after a sculpture of  a “Makor”, a mighty mythical creature created from the hair strand of “Preah Nieng Kongkea” the goddess of water. Great efforts had been made to ensure the level of detail on the logo, reflecting Khmer characteristic of hardworking and perseverance, the essence of the civilization that built stone temples detailed down to the window sills.

The logo was used on various of things such as name cards, IDs, booklets, banners, official t-shirts, pins, lanyard, wristbands a Sbek (a khmer shadow theater performance instrument) and other media materials.
